Driver's Licenses
Newcomers from outside Louisiana must obtain a Louisiana state driver's license within 30 days of moving to the state. Contact the Motor Vehicle Department at (985) 857-3675.
Automobile Tags
Newcomers from another state must immediately title and register all their vehicles with the Office of Motor Vehicles. Bring your out-of-state title, registration certificate, and proof of insurance to the Department of Motor Vehicles. If you are from another Louisiana parish, you will need to bring a registration and tag receipt to transfer your tags. Call the Department of Motor Vehicles at (985) 857-3675 for more information.
Voter Registration
The Registrar of Voters Office handles voter registration and is located in the Courthouse Annex on Main Street (985) 873-6533.

School Registration
Students attending Louisiana Public Schools for the first time are required to have the following: birth certificate; proof of immunization against measles, mumps, rubella, polio, whooping cough, diphtheria, and tetanus; and eye, ear, and dental exams.
